We can enjoy most of the games which are released worldwide without any problem But there are some Games which caused countries to BAN them. Here is the list of those banned Games
Devotion is a very stylized horror game with vibrant colors the game itself is set in the 1980s but they also hid in an anachronistic Easter Egg. It’s a poster that you can interact with that says “Winnie the Pooh & Xi Jinping”.
Now Xi Jinping is the president of China and people think that he looks like Winnie the Pooh. In China, if you call Xi Jinping Winnie the pooh or in some cases even mention in any kind of media and try to publish it, you will get BANNED. Due to these reasons Devotion became a member of banned games
COD MODERN WARFARE
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was banned in Russia and the only information provided regarding this is that Sony “Decided” not launch it in Russia they said in a tweet :
“ At the heart of modern warfare is a completely fictional story, carefully crafted to please all players. Sony decided not to sell the game in the Russian PS store. We look forward to the release of the game digitally for PC and Xbox on October 25 “
Now sony does not look forward to the release of Game on other consoles. We speculate that this is the result of political pressure or Sony just loves Russians too much
Danganronpa V3 in “South” Korea just like their north counterpart they are not okay with free speech either they have a regulatory body called Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) which rates all the game that are released in the country and when they rated Danganronpa V3 and they cited a law which said:
“ There is a concern for societal disruption due to amplified portrayal of crime, violence, sex or etc which inturn would incite criminal behavior or copycat crime “
There was also a murder case going on around the release of the game involving children murders which this banned game is about
Fallout 3 was Banned in India in 2008 which was said to have a cultural sensitivity issue. Fallout 3 contains mutant 2 headed cows and cows are considered sacred animals in Hinduism and In some religious Hindu text they are portrayed as Mothers. This was considered as a Sacrilegious Act towards the Hindu community and was Banned
IRAQ banned PUBG. PUBG was a game that let the youth of Iraq to socialize and make friends in their hectic busy life.
The Iraqi government imposed a ban on PUBG because the game was addictive and affecting the youth this intern made the Users angry and they continued to play the game by using VPN
OMEGA LABYRINTH Z
Great Britain banned Sexy dungeon-crawler Omega Labyrinth Z.
Great Britain also has a game rating council very similar to South Korea’s that’s called Video Standard Council and they refused to rate this game effectively banning it in the country because you cannot sell a game in the country without a rating. The VSC said this
“ They believed that this content in a game would have strong appeal to non-adult players, which is an issue that would be unacceptable to the majority of UK consumers and, more importantly, has a potential to be significantly harmful in terms of social and moral development of younger people in particular “
There are some objectionable mechanics in the game like collecting underwear and bra and rubbing women’s bodies using touch control in order to free them from imprisonment which is very silly sounding.
LAST OF US 2
The last of US: Part 2 got banned in many countries in the Middle East. There were not any reasons provided for this Ban. Now people are speculating that it’s because of the LGBTQ content present in the game which resulted in banning the game in several middle eastern countries regardless of the level at which they are implemented in the game.
You can buy the original game and the remaster in those countries including the Left Behind DLC which show the inconsistency in their banning process
Australia Bans a lot of games but sometimes their bans actually change the game little for instance when DAYZ got banned in Australia they actually managed to get Bohemia interactive to change the game worldwide in order to unban it.
One of the primary reasons that Australia banned the game was the inclusion of Cannabis as a healing item so they modified the entire game worldwide saying that they didn’t want to separate the Australian players from the rest of the world
In 2008 Manhunt was not only banned in New Zealand but if you had the game or were in possession of that game and if someone saw you or reported you as owning a copy of Manhunt.
The New Zealand police would come and arrest you, Fine you for $2000 and if you had shown it to anyone under 18 you would be liable for a further fine of $20000 and imprisonment for up to one year. You would have to import the game illegally into the country in order to have it because you had absolutely no way of getting it otherwise.
They were very serious about this ban.
